Peregrina is native to Cuba and is cultivated worldwide. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree that can grow up to 15 feet tall with a spread of about 10 feet. Peregrina most often grows shrub-like with several slender trunks, but it can also be pruned into a single trunk.
The plant flowers almost all year round. All parts of this plant are toxic if ingested. The milky sap may cause skin irritation and rashes upon contact. The seeds are toxic, and the smoke from burning the plant is also toxic.
